Villa La Selva was originally owned by the Florentine De’ Medici family in the early 1400s. It was built on the ancient remains of a fortified watch-tower which was used to defend the entrance to the luxuriant Ambra valley, situated between Siena, Arezzo and Florence.
Vines have been cultivated in this area for the production of wine since Medicean times, as demonstrated by documents testifying to the Medici family’s predilection for the wines of the Ambra valley.
Villa La Selva is located at Montebenichi on the borders of the Chianti Classico district, in an area rich in pasture and woodland giving the rural landscape a wild, unspoiled appearance.
Today, in addition to wine production, the estate’s completely renovated buildings offer excellent farm holiday facilities. The old farmhouses surrounded by vineyards offer visitors the chance to experience a unique, authentic holiday.
